Here we go...

Yesterday afternoon I got home from work and loaded the kiln for its first bisque firing! (well.. at least the first bisque firing here at house. I'm certain that that kiln has seen many bisque firings over the years). For me, it was a monumental occasion. I started it at 6:30, and kept it on low for the first hour, with the lid propped open and the peep holes unplugged. Another half hour on medium, with everything closed, and then on to high. At 11:28pm the kiln sitter dropped and shut it down. Today when I get home, it will be cool enough to open. It's probably a good thing I am at work, otherwise, I would be tempted to open it too soon (ha). I can't wait to see the results!
